I was born at the now closed Castle Air Force Base. Don't ask me anything about it because I left when I was only a couple months old. I have lived in many parts of the U.S. and the World but I call Oscoda, Michigan Home. I had really great math and science teachers and they inspired me to study to be a Chemical Engineer. I chose to study at the Colorado School of Mines. While there I earned degrees in Chemical Engineering and Economics.

After college I started working in the electronics industry as a Chemical Process Engineer. I enjoyed being an engineer but did not feel fulfilled with my contributions to society. So I went back to school at the University of Phoenix (Main Phoenix Campus) were I earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education. I have also attended the University of Denver and earned my Principal's License. I have taught math and science at Colorado's Finest Alternative High School for many years and can't imagine teaching anywhere else.

I am married and have two children ages 2 and 5. My family and I enjoy going to the zoo and going to parks and playing. On my free time, I have been putting a lot of time into renovating by basement. With two young kids it is taking longer than I would hope but I really enjoy the creative process of making something. Additionally, I spend many hours at Bandimere Speedway racing my Dodge Charger. I like science fiction books, all things technology, and spending time in nature (which doesn't happen often enough living in a city).

As evidenced by my three degrees and one certificate, I am passionate about learning. School is extremely important and everything you learn WILL be used outside school, just not always in the way you think. Knowledge is power. The only goal of school is to gain knowledge.
